Housing Costs Soaring, Rents Up 23% Since 2010
EESC Calls for Action
Survey Finds House Prices Have Climbed 50% in 13 Years
House prices and rents have skyrocketed in recent years, according to a new report by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).
The report found that house prices have risen by an average of 50% since 2010, while rents have increased by 23%. The EESC said that these increases are putting a strain on household budgets and making it difficult for people to afford a home.
The EESC called for a number of measures to address the issue, including:
- Increasing the supply of affordable housing
- Introducing rent controls
- Providing financial assistance to first-time home buyers
- Improving the energy efficiency of homes
The EESC said that these measures would help to make housing more affordable and accessible for everyone.
