Biden Defies Critics, Says He Won't Drop Out of 2024 Race

President Downplays Debate Performance in First Interview Since CNN Clash

Exclusive ABC News Interview Airs Friday Night

WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Joe Biden on Friday bluntly dismissed his poor performance in last week's debate against former President Donald Trump, asserting that he will not bow to pressure to withdraw from the 2024 election.

"I'm not going anywhere," Biden declared in an exclusive interview with ABC News, his first televised appearance since the widely panned CNN debate. "The American people know me. They know I'm a fighter, and I'm not going to let anyone tell me to quit."

Biden's defiance comes amid growing calls from within his own party for him to step aside. Critics have pointed to his age and the perception that he lacks the mental acuity necessary for the presidency. However, Biden has rejected these criticisms, arguing that he is still fully engaged and capable.

"I think the debate went well for me," Biden said. "I made my points, and I think I showed the American people that I'm up to the task." Asked about his frequent gaffes and confusing answers, Biden dismissed them as minor distractions.

Biden's ABC interview will air in its entirety on Friday night. In a preview clip, the president also addressed the recent release of classified documents at his former office. Biden denied any wrongdoing, saying the documents were "innocuous" and had been "accidentally misplaced."

Despite Biden's bravado, his standing in the polls has continued to decline. A recent survey found that only 38% of Americans approve of his job performance. With two years remaining in his term, Biden faces an uphill battle to win back the support of the American people.
